11/8/2010 - Recycle Bin Grant Program Benefits Challenger Boys and Girls Club

The South Los Angeles Challengers Boys and Girls Club were another recipient of Coca-Cola Recycling’s Employee Bin Grant Program. The club’s members placed the recycling bins in key areas of the center where members and faculty eat and drink. Each day the boys and girls are responsible for collecting the bottles and cans and returning them to the local recycling center.

Nate Wilson, the Club’s Program Manager, uses the funds generated by the recycling program to help support the club’s programs and subsidize costs for kids that cannot afford to pay for field trips and activities sponsored by the club. DJ Norman, Coca-Cola Refreshments, works closely with the Challengers Boys and Girls Club and nominated them for the award. DJ states the club is “in full stride with their recycling program and the kids have found the experience rewarding and beneficial for their personal development in understanding the importance of having a sustainable planet”.
